September 04 DocStocMy goodness, you would think I had already spread the word about this site. DocStoc is a place where you can upload you legal documents for others or download others for yourself. There is a large variety of documents from rental agreements to wills, power of attorney, etc. Also, you will meet professionals in your field, or another. You can get business leads. You can also store your documents online for as long as you like. This is a great site for a "non professional" like me. Although in the medical field, I am not that savvy on legal documents. That is for my attorney. This site is also for my attorney. How's that. Now, the have some new areas to their site. One is for storing your documents and this is the link:DocStoc Syn The other is to share and preview you documents.DocStoc MyDocs Please check them out. You will be surprised. I know I was. August 19 Tropical Storm FaySo, here I sit, typing away on my computer as Tropical Storm Fay pounds the outside with heavy rain and wind. We are not under a watch, just a wind and flood warning. Fay is actually passing across the state just south of us. If I had sound on this, you would hear the rain pounding and wind howling. Tunnel effect on west side of my house. Been watching her since yesterday when she hit the Keys. Just like us females (the men would say). Very erratic. She couldn't decide where to come in on the west coast, and she couldn't decide if she wanted to be a hurricane yet. That's okay though. She is carrying a big punch anyway. I did take some video of the trees bending, etc., but the video does not compare to the human eye watching in real time. On the video you see a tree in a flurry and then bending with the wind. In real time, you see every leaf bend and twist and the rain drops hitting that leaf. You see the tree trunk slightly bend and wonder if it can twist as well as each leaf. You are watching leaves fly thru the air and then lightly float to the ground. Funny how that happens. You would think they would slam into the ground. Oh well, according to the weather channel, it will all be over tomorrow when they lift the wind and flood warnings. I have been through hurricanes, the last Wilma, but am always amazed at the difference of each one. So far, Fay as been no more than some of the regular heavy summer storms we get. Just had some last week. So, besides this having a name, and being somewhat organized? There isn't much difference. AND that, of course, is the reason for the "Be Prepared" status. It is an organized and named storm. I added some photos to my site. Nothing spectacular, but of the storm. Thanks for listening. Wishing those involved safe and uneventful times with Fay.
August 14 School Starts!!!!!Well folks, the time has come. School starts next week. Now, I don't know how many of you are glad or sad, but I know where I stand. I realize that it doesn't start everywhere, but here it is, for this coming Monday. The Lord is good. Tonight, we went to the Open House. Little chairs and little tables, thankfully we didn't need to sit this time. Because my grandson is going into 1st grade, of course, we had to find the classroom. Last year he was in Kindergarten at this school. You need to understand, we moved up here last year, so we still don't know how to get around at places. We were sent a card with the teacher's name, that was it. Anyway, we got to the class. Not only do you need to sign in, but you get a folder with all kinds of paperwork. There are forms to fill out, sign, get notarized. and all kinds of papers that need to come to school with him on the first day. It doesn't take this much paper work to buy a house. His seat was already set, with the workbooks he will need this year. Plus, the teacher had put out a bag with some goodies (pencil, etc.) for each child. That was really nice. My grandson seemed a little shy a first, but eventually got to like his new teacher. She was good at talking with him. We had questions too. We got a notice during the summer that he would be placed in Advanced Academic 1st grade. A new thing! So we wanted to make sure he wouldn't be over challenged. That would be as bad as under challenged. We have been assured we will all be learning together (because this is new). But, no, they would not be adding that much. All in all, it was a good evening. The Open House helped to put our fears at ease and familiarize us with the school. BTW, they get half day the second week of school. Already??? And a full week for Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is this??????????
July 22 July Flowers
My goodness, I hadn't realized how long it has been. The time just seems to fly by when you are having fun. And when you are old. but we won't discuss that subject. During the month of June and so far this month, it has rained every day. I would get the grass cut and then look out and see that it has grown a foot higher. Of course the weeds are always a foot higher than the grass. But, with all of the rain comes the flowers. Every thing is starting to blossom and I can't keep up with them. After so long, my aechmea fasciata has finally bloomed. I thought the move had killed it. That beautiful pink flower is back. My gold trumpet is going crazy. The hibiscus is blooming one at a time. Drives me nuts. Oh, and my spider plant has finally showed signs of life. The big one is going well. The little one is just starting to sprout more. So I have added a lot of July flower pictures. Enjoy!!! July 04 Cats PlayAh, the trials of a kitten. We got this lovely kitten a while back and it seems to enjoy running and playing and climbing. As do all kittens. But this one also like to play with electrical cords. Not been shocked yet, but I am sure it is coming. Smokey used to get onto the modem of the computer and shut it off. I always checked before calling the cable company about no Internet access. She finally got over that. Now I need to worry about the kitten messing with the plugs. I spent about 20 minutes this morning trying to figure out why I didn't have a working modem, knowing I had to check in house before calling the cable company. Well, I finally found the problem. Fixed it and got reconnected. These two Smokey and "Undertaker" spend a lot of time running thru the area that all of my cables run. Then, while writing this (thank you Windows Live Writer) the cable modem goes out again. While checking, I find the TV off also. This time, the cats are not at fault. Good for them. I am trying to find a way to ban them from this room. but that is hard to do shot of shutting the door. Cable company has the problem fixed as I am writing. I called and they said they on the problem as we spoke. This kitten also likes to take down my speakers. Gets in back and pulls on the wires. I am getting too old to crawl on the floor and rescue speakers. Definitely need to have a chat with "pet". Happy Fourth of July AmericaJust a little note here to wish AMERICA a very safe and Happy Fourth of July.
June 25 Church BellsDo you live near a church that rings the bells during the day? I do, and I love the sound. They play hymns every so many hours. The sound is enchanting and makes you stop and think and sing. The other day I was crawling under the house to work on some pipes. I needed a shut off valve. Anyway, they were playing Onward Christian Soldiers. Here I am, lying in dirt under the porch, then coming out and all the while singing along with the bells. I think my neighbors thought I was nuts. I was even waving the pipe wrench. Oh well, it was fun. Today, I am not sure what the name of the hymn was, but I remember the tune. It had gotten dark out because of a coming storm. Earlier in the day there was a ring (halo) around the sun, and it was beautiful. I got some photos, not great, but beautiful non the less. This hymn was louder than usual, not sure if it was less traffic or just louder. Anyway, I looked up at the bellowing black clouds, constantly changing shape, moving in and out and around some white clouds and thought how appropriate the tune was. A man walking up the sidewalk saw me and started looking up to see what I was watching. I guess he didn't appreciate the beauty of the storm clouds. He just looked at me and shook his head, then went on his way. To me, the roaring storm clouds were wondrous. God knows just how to make you smile.
June 15 Odds and EndsSo, we are getting down to the wire on the election. Being an average person who doesn't know much about either candidate, I figure I best get to the research. So, if anyone knows of web sites that state the facts and aren't full of bull, I would appreciate a link. I have my own ideas, but will not state them because I do not have all the facts. I do know that both candidates have their good and bad sides, but that does me no good. So, research is way. We have started hurricane season here in Florida (and everywhere else). I certainly hope that folks are preparing now instead of when a hurricane is in the warning stage. My family has pretty much kept a running stock on canned goods and dry goods. Updated every year. Just now all we need are the batteries and ice. I do need to get the batteries soon. This would be a good time to clean up the yard. Remove debris and be sure large items are properly tied down. Get trees trimmed before a storm is developed, that way it debris will be gone and not waiting to become a missile. Be sure to have a family emergency plan. Where will you stay during the storm. If at home, pick a room now and have it prepared. This all sounds good and should be done. I know I used to wait until the last minute and although I did not have a problem, I know people who did. These last 10 years or so I have been prepared enough to survive when the power is off and the water is off. Hope everyone takes the time to prepare now. Okay, I am off my soapbox. We have been getting a fair amount of rain lately. You know what that means. Cut the grass. You don't see grass for several months and then BOOM, it grows to 2 feet before you have a chance to notice. And the trimming, oh what fun. If I could afford a lawn service, I would hire them in a minute. Unfortunately, I cannot, so I get to cut the grass and trim around buildings and decks and flower beds and.............. You get the picture. Guess I should be doing that instead of blogging on the computer. I decided to scan some old photos. Was I crazy??? Twenty some odd photo albums crammed with photos (and other stuff) and I want to scan them. I was looking through some of the albums and that took me back. Some are from my childhood (hundreds of years ago), when I was young and beautiful and naive. The most noticeable changes are between 8 yrs and 10yrs and 20 yrs and 24 yrs. These are the times when I matured?????? I was geeky and a loner in high school. Not that I got great grades, just geeky!!!! I wasn't good at socializing either. Came across photos of my parents when they were young, my Father when he was in the Army and my Mother when she was in nursing school. The best photos are the ones of my daughter when she was born to about 6 years. When I look at my grandson's photos, they look exactly the same. You would have a hard time picking who was who. Same chubby face with those big dark eyes and long, long lashes. Same smile too. Of course, she grew up, but he is still cute!! Well, that's it for now. Take care and God Bless. Comment if you wish. May 26 Is It Love, Faith or...is it something else? I want to know if I am the only person like this. My husband and I had almost 20 years together. Unfortunately, we would not be allowed the "lifetime" on this earth of togetherness. He died early, much too early. We have a beautiful daughter who now has her own family. Anyway, I am getting off of the subject. My husband's birthday is coming up at the end of this month. I believe that is what got me to thinking. Now, it has been 12 years since his death. At times, it stills feels like yesterday or even today. My questions is, am I the only widow/widower in this world with no desire to date or remarry? It is not fear, because I enjoy a good time as well as anyone. No, it isn't guilt either. Do I compare the "live" ones to him? Yes. Do they meet those comparable standards? Some. But, that makes no difference. I see and hear of many widows/widowers have a new romance and some even getting married again. I wonder if there is something different about me that goes against this normalcy. I enjoy my life. I was happy living alone for several years. Now, I share a home with my daughter and her family. This is mainly due to 2 major hurricanes and the damage and finances involved. Do I still mourn him, yes. I always will. He was (and is) a major part of my life and we loved unconditionally. That is the type of love you do not find often. Granted, we both were married before and knew what we didn't want in our marriage. That definitely helped. Are there other individuals out there who enjoy their lives as a widow/widower without the need to replace their lost loved one? I still love and miss him. Yes, I get lonely at times, but not the kind of lonely that requires another "live" person to get involved. Hope that makes sense. Thank you for listening. Comment if you wish. May 12 My CloudsAs you all know, I love clouds. They fascinate me with their shapes and sizes. I could, and sometime do, spend hours just looking at the clouds. Well, here are more photos of the clouds in my area. Nothing great, just wonderful clouds. Enjoy. Technorati Tags: clouds.sky May 04 Flowers, Flowers and More FlowersNice title, don't you think. Couldn't help it. That is exactly what I did. I went out and took all kinds of photos of flowers in my yard. Plus, I have been practicing my "macro" shots. I have hundreds of photos of flowers. Some have been edited with filters, cropping, framing. I love it. These flowers were all here when I bought the house. I just wait to see what will blossom on what plant. It is fascinating. Some of these plants I have never seen before. Others I have seen but have no idea of the name. I even have some great looking weeds that blossom with white and blue flowers. There is one plant with buds. I take a picture every day as the buds get larger and as they start to open. They are still buds though. All I know is the flower will be white. I might be another day or two before they open. So, enjoy the photos. Comment if you like. Have a great day.
Talking about YouTube - Brooks & Dunn "Believe"
Quote Okay, this is it. I finally found my video. This is the best of the lot. One of my favorite songs by Brooks and Dunn. I will probably add "God Must Be Busy" another time. Hope you enjoy. Have a great day. YouTube - Brooks & Dunn "Believe" May 03 Been A WhileMy goodness, it sure has been awhile since I have written. doesn't seem like a whole month. Let's see, it hasn't rained, the sun has been shining beautifully. My plants are growing and blossoming with colorful flowers. All of the owners of the house are doing well and keeping the humans in line. Oh, we did acquire another dog. Bud (as in Bud weiser), is a big long haired black retriever. Beautiful dog. Only about a year and a half. Listens about as well as every one around here. He does give the cats a hard time. Littlebit has started leaving scars on Bud's nose. But, they have started to settle down and tolerate each other. Now, my mailbox has been taken out about 4 times since I moved here (which is less than a year) and now I have a POBox with the post office. I got hold of a supervisor and discussed the problem. My mailbox is in a T section. Sits directly across the street from a side street. When trucks (sign: No Trucks Allowed) come off the street or try to turn from the street in front of my house, they invariably run over the mailbox. The carrier came out and we discussed where to put the box so it won't get run over. Now, because I have a PO Box for 6 months, I have plenty of time to secure the mailbox. Next time someone takes it out, they will be way off the road. Plus I have been taking HP online courses. Needed to check out the updated courses on Scanning and the ones on Security and Tune up. The updates were great. The courses were more intuned to now instead of last year. They were really; helpful. Checking out the new schedule now. So, take care and have a great day. April 03 Rain and NatureWonderfully, we have had some rain. Actually, good old thunderstorms and buckets of rain at times. It is truly amazing to watch plants and trees turn greener during and after the rain. Even better are the blossoms. Some of my plants have just blossomed more than I would expect. Beautiful flowers and green leaves. Hibiscus and azaleas in full glory. I don't have many color, but I have plenty of blossoms. Plus, the life cycle of my orange and tangelo trees. The bees swarming and the blossoms coming out to the sun. And then, the baby oranges, lush green and ready to grow into beautiful colorful oranges. Shades of orange ranging from faded to brilliant. Enjoy. Hope you like. Have a great day. March 23 SkateboardingMy grandson loves to skateboard. He rides it down the steps, across the the sidewalk and into the driveway. Thankfully he doesn't go to the road yet. Speaking of road. They just re-paved the street in front of my house. My grandson was in out of town while they paved, and when he got back he was out checking the smoothness. I am hoping that is not because he wants to skateboard on it. They have a small park a couple blocks from the house. Kids use their skateboards or bikes in the park. There are ramps, circles, etc. It really is a nice park. In Sebring, they have a large skateboard park. My grandson would like to go there and keeps bugging his mom. She is reluctant. Can't blame her. The ramps are high and long. I would be afraid for him too. It is also a nice park. I guess she will be taking him soon. He has a friend who is like him about skateboarding. His friend's mom will also go. The pictures I have put up are at the small park. He is getting really good at this. His mom tried, but couldn't cut it. I just took pictures, I was not going to get hurt. I know I would fall hard if I tried. I did try in my younger days, hugged a nice mailbox at the time. He got to skate for quite a while. He enjoyed the ramps more than the rest. He likes to take risks, which I am sure will they will be bigger risks as he gets older. One of those young kids afraid of nothing. Very scary when you are the mom. glad I had a girl. Think she was easier to raise. Hope you enjoy the pictures of my grandson skating at the park. Have a great day. March 12 Glorious CloudsYou will have to forgive me. I love Clouds. I take more pictures of clouds than anything else. Clouds are so serene at times, and thunderous at others. I can lie around all day and stare at the clouds. Sometimes I do. Clouds have all kinds of shapes, sometimes you can see animals or people in them. My grandson is good a finding the ones shaped like ships or airplanes. They other day I saw a cloud shaped like a pig. At least to me it looked like a pig. I especially like the rain clouds. Not the all around overcast cloud. The big black rain clouds and how they roll quickly past. My favorite are the low black clouds that bring the cool breeze as they pass. But, really I love all clouds. So, check out my latest photos and tell me what you think. Most of these are from last month and this month. Enjoy and have a great day.
February 24 Seagulls of Lake VeronaDid you ever show up somewhere thinking you were alone, then wham, a flock of seagulls arrive? Actually, I wasn't alone. I was with my family. We decided to get take out food and go to the lake. Nice huh? We got out of car at the lake and headed for the picnic table area. Not a bird in sight until someone crinkled a bag. Mind you, they don't actually come to the tables, they just surround you and gawk. They fight for position closest to the invisible line they do not cross. My grandson threw out some fries. That was when the fights really began. It was a "take no prisoners" kind of fighting. And, of course, there is always one the makes you feel guilty because they didn't get any. That starts a whole new game of catch. We did have a great time, though. The pictures in the album show the antics of the birds as they wait impatiently for food. You would think they hadn't eaten in a long time, but they sure look healthy. Hope you enjoy the photos. Have a great day. Leave comments if you wish.
February 23 The Sun RingThe other day I was outside cleaning up the back yard. When I look up at the clouds (rain forecast) I saw this ring around the sun. You know, the rainbow ring. It was fantastic. I went inside and got my camera. Yes, I took lots of shots of this. When I was done working in the yard, I went inside and downloaded the photos. They came out really nice. I have altered none of them Didn't even resize. Nothing was needed. They didn't come out great, but they show the ring and the rainbow. The clouds are great though. I did post some of them on the Tabblo site. I couldn't believe my luck in getting so many nice shots. I am posting most of them here in an album. I really hope that you enjoy them. Have a great day.
February 22 Mother NatureSince we moved to this little town in Central Florida, we have been blessed with more of Mother Nature. One of the best things is the squirrels. We get to see them every day, jumping from tree to tree. I have had to good fortune to be able to photograph them. As I said before, macro isn't my strong point. Zooming isn't either, but it does work. I have a little point and shoot camera, Fuji A345. I have had it for several years and love it. Especially since I cannot afford a newer camera. Anyway, back to the squirrels. They come around most often in the mornings. We see them during the day, but mornings seem to be their favorite time. There is one who will let me get fairly close for pictures before he disappears. It is almost like he is posing for the camera. I have added a photo album for them, him really. He stares right at the camera from the tree limb. Also included are photos of a baby squirrel. This poor thing fell from my neighbors roof. Must have gone into shock. He didn't move for some time. My neighbor gathered him up and put him in the trap until he better. We watched him closely for any injuries, but he showed none. There were a few adult squirrels hanging around in the tree near where we were standing. After making sure the baby was okay, my neighbor let him loose in a nearby tree. We do not feed them or try to tame them. We just love watching them jump from tree to tree. It is amazing how they run so well along the utility lines. We have two squirrels that run the lines every morning and every afternoon. Unfortunately, I cannot catch them on film. They are too fast for me. Hope you enjoy he photos. Have a great day.
February 21 PhotographyWell, HI everyone. Sorry, I haven't been around for a while. Your health can do funny things. But that is over for now. I have been out taking lots of pictures. Digital cameras are really great. I think I have deleted more than I kept. But, that is expected. I have been trying to make my macro shots better. What really sucks is I get a really good batch of photos and then I think I know what I am doing. Ha!!!! The next batch is all deleted. Just the other day, I took 53 shots, and kept 4. That's bad. But, that is what is so great about the digital camera. I took lots of photos of my flowers. Since we moved up here I have been trying to identify all the plants growing in the yard. There are so many. Then there is one that is all over the back yard. And, of course, they had my favorite, the yucca. There are about 5 of those around here. I am going to try and transplant the little ones. Want them closer to where I can see them without going out and walking the yard. This yard is full of cactus, which I love. All different varieties. Plus there are so many different names that I was getting dizzy while searching the internet. I had no idea what I was looking for except it was a cactus. Then, when I thought I had found it, by a picture mind you, the actual description didn't fit. Thankfully, I had photos of the cactus in bloom. That did help. Matching the flowers was easier than trying to match the leaves. Once I get the names straightened out, I am going to put them in the photo section. I have two sections in the back yard of nothing but Aechmea phanerophlebia. Mouthful, huh? Those will be in the photo album. Taking pictures in between rain storms. Color is fantastic then. Anyway, back to macro. I was trying to take photos of the bees around the flowers. Well, as with all animals, when I take a picture, they turn around and give me a behind shot. You will notice that in the bees I shot. Well, I hope you enjoy the photos in the photo album. Please let me know if I can do better>>>>>>>>>>>>>
